JAG are recruiting assessors for certification portfolios
10 January 2022

JAG invites applications from individuals passionate about supporting endoscopy training and certification in the UK. One of JAG’s core objectives is to quality assure endoscopy units, training and services. As part of this objective, JAG manages the JAG Endoscopy Training System (JETS). JETS provides an ePortfolio allowing trainee endoscopists to record endoscopic experience and demonstrate performance, progression, and competencies.

Trainee endoscopists apply for JAG certification via their ePortfolio, which is then assessed by experienced endoscopists.

As JETS national assessor, you will be responsible for the timely review and assessment of endoscopy trainees’ applications for JAG certification in diagnostic upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, or flexible sigmoidoscopy. You will apply the JETS assessment criteria to all assessments and leave comments as appropriate; where necessary providing clear actions for trainees. JETS assessors would be expected to assess a minimum of 75 applications per year.

We would welcome applications from individuals from any professional background in order to support our aim of broad representation. In particular, we welcome applicants from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background, as they are currently under-represented in our assessor pool.

Training

Successful applicants will undergo a detailed training programme that equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge required to undertake the role. You will be invited to remote training sessions and receive any required additional support from the office team and the JAG Clinical Lead for Training. Reimbursement will be made in line with RCP remittance guidance.

Applicants are asked to forward a CV and covering letter by email to anna.jenkins@rcp.ac.uk Closing date for applications: Friday 4th February 2022.
